ABSTRACT
DIGITAL FLORIDA: A PANEL OF PROJECTS
How is Florida sharing its cultural treasures? Florida digitization projects display both rugged individualism and collaborative interoperability. The virtues and vices of both organizational models impact material selection, funding, staffing, format choices, and metadata. Collaboration has one advantage above all: it offers even modestly funded institutions the opportunity to create electronic publications that enhance and improve the analog originals. Drawing upon their own experiences, the panelists will contrast the certainties of "going it alone" with the creative possibilities of partnerships and collaborations in Florida.
